Wow, this seems a bit weird. I haven't wrote on the blog since Ryan arrived. I am a lot less descriptive than Ryan so I will apologize ahead of time to both our mothers for the short blog entry.
After a rough flight due to a bit of turbulence and interesting shuttle ride we arrived safe and sound in Melbourne on the 29th of December. We have been keeping busy by visiting the different museums and art galleries in the city. On New Years Eve we walked to Federation Square to take in the festivities. Arriving at Fed. Square around 9pm we watched some traditional live music, firethrowers and acrobats. When 2009 hit there was a beautiful fireworks display which I tried to capture on my camera but it definately does not do it justice. On the way back to our hostel we ran into a bit of pepper spray. Fortunately we felt the effects early enough and got out of the area immediately. No harm done though just some runny noses and burning.
On the 3rd Mattea and Tim took us out to Inverloch to spend a few days at the beach. We stayed with Tim's family, which was so amazingly hospitable! Great ambassadors for the country! While there we watched the penguins walk up the beaches back to their burrows for the night. It was quite surreal to watch these penguins waddling up on the beaches of Australia.
We will be in Melbourne until the 8th of January before we fly to Alice Springs to do an Ayers Rock tour.
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!

Amanda your description was great! It was great to read your thoughts, just for a change of pace. Ryan we will be home now, you always seem to catch us out, you're going to think we have a life or something crazy like that. Oh except Monday, I curl and dad bowls. After that we are home. What is this tour you are doing next, the Ayers Rock tour???? What will you being touring?
Talk to you both soon. Happy New Year!
Yeah what is with that... who gave you the permission to go out and get a life? Ummm... as for Ayers Rock you really need to research it because as of right now I just know that it is a gigantic rock in th middle of Australia that holds spiritual significance. If you search Mulga's tour of Ayers Rock that is the actual tour we are going on so it will explain it a bit better.
Are you booked for this tour, when do you leave, is it for 3 days? Did you pay already or when you get there with your new card!!! Finally you are the monkey off Amanda's back! lol The rock looks very cool. It says you need Medium fitness to proceed and no children! fun or what!
Ryan have you been trying to call, the phone has been ringing once then hanging up, we have assumed it was you?
Love the new Pictures! What kind of place were you visiting? Kind of like home eh Ryan, padded walls and all! Nice hostels, roomy lol, mind you your arms are freakishly long! (from Meg) I hope our hostel in Italy is bigger than that room or mama may have a problem! Keep the pictures coming, it gives us a sense of what you see! Love it and you guys!
